Eat like a Minuteman and a Mammoth

University of Amherst-Massachusetts (UMASS) and Amherst College are two schools nestled across from each other in the colorful town of Amherst. Ivy brick buildings, Greek Life houses, distant mountains, and the colors of autumn dominate this brotherhood. But it’s the rich food here that unites every student together in harmony.

Campus Favorite

Miss Saigon

There is no better place for the rich smells and delightful tastes of Vietnam than Miss Saigon. A pho paradise in the Pioneer Valley, this restaurant is known for alluring customers by its scent wafting out of the door. That’s how I got hooked.

I don’t live very far from Amherst since Smith College is just down the road. I usually drive up every other day to visit my Amherst buddies and chow on some good food.

In the mornings, I get some hot coffee at The Works Cafe along with some eggs at Lone Wolf.

After my friends finish their studies for the day, we head off to Miss Saigon for pho and rice.

And before I head back to Smith, they always treat me to some cheese foam bubble tea at Moge Tee

Vivi’s Bubble Tea

Vivi’s Bubble Tea is the perfect stop for all your boba needs.  Nothing but fruity goodness and a ton of flavors to experiment, expect nothing but sensation here! I always take some time to grab a classic Thai tea here.

Lunch & Dinner

Judie’s

Judie’s has a special place in Amherst’s heart, having been a mainstay restaurant since 1977. However, her starring fame can be attributed to the famous Popover, a traditional New England bread filled with tasty delights!

Every college student knows that the best pizza slice in town can only be found at Antonio’s Pizza. Classic pizza and an abundance of combinations have lured hungry mouths inside for years.

Pasta E Basta

A classic, family-owned Italian restaurant with some of the finest dining in all of Amherst. A walk inside transports you to the warm streets of Italy with friendly neighbors, good food, and some impressive candle-light atmosphere.

High Horse

Billiards. Cigars. Smokey Bourbon. Fancy meals. High Horse prides itself on being one of the few gastropubs, a tavern that serves restaurant quality food, in the area. They also have a funny logo of a horse with extremely high legs, hence the name.

Everyone knows a good “crunch period” of late-night studying has to be accompanied by some fine sweets, and the cookies here are freshly baked and ready for eating. Singles or boxes, any quantity is available for the tired student. Personally, I always get the sugar rush box here!

Bart’s Ice Cream

‘New England’s Best Ice Cream’ is a title that does not come easy, and Bart’s certainly proves itself to be the champion of creamy treats. Enjoy absolutely delicious ice cream served alongside favorites such as crepes, cakes, and other sweet desserts!
